Boho Chic DIY: Create Two Stunning Wooden Dowel Vases

If you’re a fan of boho chic decor and love crafting unique pieces for your home, then this DIY project is perfect for you! Today, we’re going to show you how to make two beautiful boho vases using 12″ wooden dowels, 6″ embroidery hoops, wood beads, and skewers. These vases will add a touch of natural and earthy elegance to your living space. Let’s get started!

Materials Needed:

  • 12″ wooden dowels
  • 6″ embroidery hoops (2 per vase) – the inside hoop of the set without the hardware.
  • Wood beads (Large and Small)
  • Skewers
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Wire cutter

Vase 1: Skewer and Wood Bead Vase

Step 1: Preparing the Embroidery Hoop Start by taking one of the 6″ embroidery hoops and lay it flat on your work surface. Take the skewers and apply hot glue along one side of the hoop’s inner perimeter. Be careful with the hot glue to avoid burning yourself. Use wood beads to space the skewers evenly around the inside of the embroidery hoop. Press the skewers firmly into the hot glue to secure them in place.

Step 2: Adding the Wood Beads With the skewers in place, it’s time to add the wood beads. Take the assorted wood beads and thread them onto the skewers. Create a pattern that speaks to your boho aesthetic. Consider alternating between big and small beads to add an interesting texture to your vase. Continue threading the beads until your vase reaches the desired height.

Step 3: Completing the Vase Once your vase has reached the desired height, take the second 6″ embroidery hoop and apply hot glue to the outer perimeter. Carefully place it just above the last row of wood beads and press it firmly to secure it in place. This embroidery hoop will act as the top border of your vase.

Finally, take a wire cutter and trim the skewers flush with the top of the embroidery hoop. Be cautious while cutting to ensure a clean and even finish. And voilĂ , your first boho vase is complete!

Vase 2: Embroidery Hoop and Wooden Dowel Vase

Materials Needed:

  • 12″ wooden dowels
  • 6″ embroidery hoops (2 per vase)
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Step 1: Preparing the Embroidery Hoops and Attaching the Dowels Begin by taking one of the 6″ embroidery hoops and lay it flat on your work surface. Place the 12″ wooden dowels around the outside of the embroidery hoop, positioning them vertically and evenly spaced. To ensure equal spacing between the dowels, use a spare dowel or any other object with the same width as one dowel. Place it between each dowel as you arrange them around the perimeter of the embroidery hoop. With the dowels in place, it’s time to secure them to the embroidery hoop. Apply hot glue to the top and bottom of each dowel where it comes into contact with the embroidery hoop. Press the dowels firmly into the glue, making sure they are aligned vertically and evenly spaced.

Step 2: Completing the Vase Now, take the second 6″ embroidery hoop and apply hot glue to the outer perimeter. Carefully place it on top of the wooden dowels, aligning it with the first embroidery hoop to form the top border of your vase. Press it firmly to secure it in place.

Allow the hot glue to dry completely to ensure the vase is stable and well-assembled.

Your boho-inspired wooden dowel vase is now complete! You can leave it as is for a natural look or consider adding some decorative elements like beads, tassels, or paint to enhance its bohemian charm.

Remember, crafting is all about exploring your creativity, so feel free to experiment with different designs and embellishments to make the vase truly your own. Once finished, display your beautiful boho vases proudly in your home, or gift them to loved ones who appreciate the beauty of handmade decor. Happy crafting!
