This is one of my favorite projects! I completely transformed this bedroom into the loft bedroom of a little girls dreams. The gorgeous wallpaper (Posey) from http://wallpaperie.com just added to the sweetness! I then used some gray washed shiplap look paneling underneath and painted it white. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZM8NogcvG/
To build the loft, I used 2×6 boards and built a wall. I added a board to along the walls screwed to the studs to make the bed platform. After building up the loft bed, I used 1×6 boards to add a bookshelf into the cubbies on both the top and the bottom of the loft. It is the perfect place to store all her books and trinkets. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZM8F1JkkK/
I built this ladder using plans from Plank and Pillow https://plankandpillow.com/how-to-build-a-bunk-bed-ladder/ and then also added the rail. Click https://www.instagram.com/reel/COnxahFnTEZ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link to watch my reel.
On the other side of the loft wall, I built in this desk nook with shelves. The floating desk has functional drawers so she can hide all of her papers and craft supplies. I also used my Cricut to DIY her cute weekly calendar and attached it to the wall with brass offset fasteners. The chair is from Home Depot and is not only comfortable but also the perfect pop of color for the nook. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZM8NosAqh/
Underneath the loft, she needed someplace to sit and hang out, so I utilized a crib mattress and built this little sofa. The vibe of the room has a touch of Boho so I added this wrapped macrame cord detail to the arms of the sofa. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZM8No7n6a/
My absolute favorite part of the room is her scroll saw name sign that I made that opens up to reveal a secret compartment! What kid wouldn’t love that? https://www.instagram.com/reel/CPegvDXnupf/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
Behind the door she needed some hooks so I used the opportunity to make a quick little batten wall with dowels for the hooks. I think it is the perfect touch to the room. I also built this dresser and after working with all those drawers, I have vowed to never make one again!
The details are so fun for me to add, like the little macrame sconces that hold puck lights. Did you know you can glue battery operated puck lights into a fixture to add lighting without having to hire an electrician? I also added a gold sconce above in the loft so she could read at night, a new lighting fixture, new bedding and an adorable ottoman. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZM8NovQ8c/
I am in love with every detail from the room and there is so much more floor space for her to play and hang out with her friends. What is your favorite part? https://www.instagram.com/p/CPt6r25nNYj/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

I love this! I’m planning on doing something similar for my daughter. Just a question – when you install the shelves at the top and bottom of the bunk bed, do you just pre-drill and screw through the 2×6 frame into the end grain of the shelves? I’m afraid the shelves be stable if I do this?
Thank you for such an awesome project! I found you on TikTok 🙂

Yes! They will be stable for sure. I wouldn’t worry about it at all! I added extra 1×6 boards that are stained to the inside. Make sure you check out my IG highlights that walks you through the process!
